What we collect, why we collect it, who we give it to, and how to get it back or have it corrected.
Last updated August 2026.
This policy applies to Local Capital Pty Ltd (ABN 79 142 973 279), trading as Credit4U. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and, where credit information is involved, Part IIIA of the Privacy Act and the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code.
What we collect
Personal information, which may include your name, date of birth, contact details, residential address, identification documents, employment details, income and expenses, assets and liabilities, and marital and dependant status.
Credit information, which may include details of credit you have applied for or hold, repayment history information, defaults, credit scores and information from credit reporting bodies.
Business information, where you are applying for commercial finance: financial statements, BAS lodgements, bank statements, ABN and ACN details and director information.
Technical information collected automatically when you use this website: IP address, browser type, pages visited and referring URLs, including advertising click identifiers where you arrive from an advertisement.
Why we collect it

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for unrelated marketing purposes.
Credit reporting
To assess an application we may obtain a credit report about you from a credit reporting body. That report may include your repayment history, defaults, current credit arrangements and previous credit enquiries. Lenders we submit your application to may also obtain their own report.
You have rights in relation to credit reporting, including the right to obtain a free copy of your credit report from each credit reporting body annually, to request correction of inaccurate information, to ask a credit reporting body not to use your information for pre-screening direct marketing, and to request a ban period if you believe you have been a victim of fraud.
The main Australian credit reporting bodies and their privacy policies can be found at equifax.com.au, experian.com.au and illion.com.au.
Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers, particularly cloud hosting and software providers, may store data outside Australia — commonly in the United States, the European Union, Singapore or New Zealand. Where we disclose information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
How we hold and protect it
We store information in secure electronic systems with access limited to staff who need it, and any physical documents in secure premises. We use encryption in transit, access controls and regular review of our systems. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps proportionate to the sensitivity of what we hold.
We retain records for at least seven years where required by the National Credit Act and other legislation, and destroy or de-identify information when it is no longer needed and we are no longer required to keep it.
Cookies and website analytics
This website uses cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, understand how it is used, and measure the performance of our advertising. That may include Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tracking, which set cookies and may record an advertising click identifier when you arrive from an advertisement.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though parts of the site may not work as intended. You can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on, and manage advertising personalisation in your Google account settings.
Direct marketing
We may send you information about products and services that may be relevant to you. Every message includes an unsubscribe option, and you can opt out at any time by contacting us. Opting out of marketing does not affect communications about a loan you have applied for.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or misleading. Contact us at enquiries@credit4u.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable period — usually 30 days — and will not charge you for making the request. In limited circumstances we may refuse access, in which case we will explain why in writing.
Complaints about privacy
If you think we have mishandled your information, contact us first at enquiries@credit4u.com.au. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992. Where the complaint relates to credit, you may also take it to AFCA at afca.org.au or on 1800 931 678.
Data breaches
We maintain a data breach response plan. Where a breach is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on this page, with the date of last update shown at the top.
