Technical glitch hits NAB net banking

04 October 2010
NATIONAL Australia Bank credit card customers were shocked to learn that their funds had gone "missing" for a few hours today.

Customers raised the alarm when funds transferred to their NAB credit card facility -- from another account -- disappeared from the transaction screen.

One customer alerted The Australian to the issue and said his funds had "disappeared" after a similar transaction.

The customer said after logging on to NAB's website this afternoon he moved a few thousand dollars from his chequing account to pay his credit card bill.

He then realised the destination account had not recorded the new amount although the funds had been debited.

After checking with NAB he was reassured that the funds were intact and it would appear in his transaction history tomorrow.

The bank has since fixed the problem.

NAB spokeswoman Luisa Ford said a technical glitch had led to "processing delays".

She said the problem had been resolved and customers' transactions should be up to date.

The problem was confined to NAB's credit card transaction history records and not its entire internet banking platform.

The exact nature of the problem was being investigated, she said.
